Michael VoitSt. Louis, Mo.-based KAI Design & Build recently welcomed Michael D. Voit, AIA, to the firm as director of architecture. Voit brings a diverse experience creating spaces where people learn, play and pray.

“Michael’s portfolio of projects fits perfectly into the work we’re doing here,” says Michael B. Kennedy, president of KAI. “While based in our Dallas office, Michael’s leadership, business acumen, architectural eye and perspective including his client-focused delivery will benefit all of KAI’s offices in Missouri, Texas, Georgia and Nebraska.”

Voit’s body of work holds award-winning examples of educational facilities, including the $17-million Irving ISD Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School, and the $15-million French Family Science, Math & Technology Center, a LEED Gold building for Ursuline Academy of Dallas, a Catholic college preparatory school. His work with higher education is extensive with projects completed on eight college campuses in Texas. Voit also brings a diverse facility background with projects completed for churches and municipalities.

Voit served as principal and partner of F&S Partners Incorporated, which later merged with SmithGroup, Inc, in 2009, where he was design principal, studio and practice leader. Prior to joining KAI, Voit worked with HH Architects in Dallas.

Voit holds an MBA from the University of Dallas, and a bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with a Building Design and Construction credential (LEED AP BD+C).
