On February 11, 2026, Jeff Buczkiewicz, President and CEO of the Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA), testified before the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections. He spoke during a hearing titled "Building an AI-Ready America: Safer Workplaces Through Smarter Technology". His testimony detailed how the MCAA is using new technology to improve safety and productivity for the $41 billion industry and approximately 4 million employees within.

Jeff highlighted that the masonry industry is no longer just about traditional manual labor; it is becoming one of the most innovative sectors in the economy. At the heart of the testimony was GEORGE, our purpose-built AI system. Developed over four years with industry stakeholders, GEORGE was created specifically to avoid reliance on generic (or dangerous) AI tools.

Engaging the Next Generation
With nearly 40% of the construction workforce expected to retire in the next five years, the MCAA is leveraging technology to extend the existing workforce's longevity and attract new, younger talent.

A Call for Bipartisan Partnership
Jeff concluded with a powerful ask: for government and industry to partner in a bipartisan manner to encourage responsible technology use. He emphasized that AI should not be used to punish or replace workers, but to prolong careers, reduce the physical "wear and tear" of construction, and ensure every worker returns home safely.

"We are sitting at the forefront of a truly groundbreaking moment," Buczkiewicz stated, reinforcing that the MCAA remains committed to keeping our nation's employees healthy, productive, and ready for the future.
