9 November 2017 — Hardscape North America selected 16 hardscape projects to receive the 2017 HNA Awards for design and construction. In addition, 20 others received Honorable Mention recognition.

The 2017 HNA Awards recognize residential and commercial walkways, patios, pool decks, outdoor kitchens, driveways, commercial plazas, streets and other applications built using concrete pavers, segmental retaining walls, clay brick, porcelain and combinations of hardscape products. Projects built between Nov. 1, 2013, and June 30, 2017, were eligible for the competition.

Produced by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, the awards are endorsed by the National Concrete Masonry Association and the Brick Industry Association. The HNA Awards program is sponsored by Belgard and Pavestone Company.

“We challenged contractors throughout North America to showcase the work they are most proud of to give the industry an idea of the depth of talent we have in all of our markets,” said Matt Lynch, ICPI board chair. “All entries were judged on intent, design, quality of construction and craftsmanship, compatibility with related construction materials and systems, construction innovation, detailing and overall design excellence. The winning projects showcase the industries’ best-of-the-best in hardscape design and construction.”

Three winners were located in Wisconsin, and two winners were located in California, Connecticut, Illinois and North Carolina each. The greater Philadelphia-New Jersey area also had two winners. Additionally, Bahler Brothers from South Windsor, Connecticut, was the most decorated contractor, receiving two HNA Awards and one Honorable Mention.
