Golf tournament raises awareness for recruitment efforts in the construction industry

Words: Jennifer WilkersonNCCER’s Build Your Future (BYF) initiative hosted its fifth annual Scramble for Skills Recruitment Drive and Golf Tournament on Aug. 2 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, prior to the 2015 Construction Industry Institute (CII) Annual Conference. The focus of the event was to highlight the need for the construction industry to strengthen its recruitment efforts and promote construction careers to eliminate workforce challenges.

Participants included 50 golfers representing 31 industry and educational organizations. Back Tee Sports provided individualized instruction from PGA professionals and hosted a demonstration clinic prior to the start of the tournament, which was held at Pinehills Golf Club. Participants also enjoyed a long-drive exhibition hosted by two-time world long drive champion Jamie Sadlowski. A reception and awards presentation followed the tournament.
