VIRTUAL CONTRACTOR SAFETY ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Words: Greg Brown

Back by popular demand, the MCAA will be hosting another virtual Contractor Roundtable Discussion on October 21, 2020 at 11 AM CST. The new opportunity for members to connect is modeled after the highly-successful Contractor Round Tables held in-person at several MCAA events. This particular call will be most useful for designated safety personnel.

The group of participants will be asked to submit topics for discussion prior to the call. To begin, the group will vote in a poll to choose the topic for conversation. At that point, the participants will be separated into "breakout rooms," with approximately six participants per room. Each group will have approximately 20 minutes to discuss the selected topic.

After the 20 minutes are up, the entire group will be brought back together to share highlights from the breakout session. The entire call should take an hour and will allow safety personnel to bounce ideas off of one another to come up with solutions to use in the field.

The MCAA will be conducting these new Virtual Contractor Round Tables monthly, and the meetings are only open to MCAA Members. There is no charge for the program. Participants will need access to a computer with internet and Zoom.

Please reach out to Jeff at the MCAA (jeffb@masoncontractors.org or 800.536.2225) if you would like to attend and he will send out a Zoom invite. This is currently the only way to register. We look forward to this new way of helping our members connect.

I’ve been noticing an uptick in a very specific kind of application lately, and once you see the pattern, you can’t unsee it. The résumé usually reads like a family photo album. “Started helping my dad when I was 15.” “Worked summers, then full time.” “R
