MCAA’s Silica Train-the-Trainer Course

Words: Jeff BuczkiewiczNote: The Executive Orders President Trump has issued regarding regulation do not apply to the silica rule since the rule was rolled out in 2016. The Orders only apply to new rules from this point forward. Our industry must prepare for the rule to be in place on June 23, 2017, as we have no indication that a change will occur before then. There are minimums for each class of 10 people.

On June 23, 2017, OSHA’s silica rule will be implemented. All jobsites will be required to have:
  1. A written exposure control plan.
  2. A competent person who has been trained on the exposure control plan and silica on a jobsite.
The MCAA’s Silica Train-the-Trainer Course is a six-hour program that will train a key employee to train other employees to be a competent person with regard to the written exposure control plan. Certificates will be provided to those who complete the program.
