MiTek Industries Inc., a supplier of engineered products, software and systems to the construction industry and subsidiary of Berkshire-Hathaway Inc., announced that its Hohmann & Barnard Inc. subsidiary has completed the purchase of the assets of Astoria, N.Y.-based RKL Building Specialties Co.

Hohmann & Barnard Inc. (H&B) is a manufacturer of reinforcing products, anchoring and flashing systems, vapor barriers and restoration products for masonry construction. RKL manufactures and distributes custom stone and masonry anchors and accessories throughout the Northeast, with an especially strong presence in the New York City market.

"We are very proud and excited to have RKL as part of the H&B family," says Ron Hohmann Sr., CEO of H&B. "RKL has established a broad and consistent customer base built over the years by a very talented and aggressive sales and management team. Our goal will be to further enhance our customer service position and introduce innovative new product lines to support the future growth of the stone and masonry industry in New York and the surrounding markets. To that end, we will be relocating the entire RKL team and operations to a new, expanded facility just a few miles away in College Point, Queens, N.Y."
