Peck Returns to Public Service With GSA

Robert A. Peck, FAIA, has returned to the General Services Administration (GSA) as commissioner of the agency's Public Buildings Service, a position he also held from 1995 to 2001 during the Clinton Administration.

The Public Buildings Service oversees design, construction, leasing, management and security for the federal government's facilities. Until recently, Peck was a managing director at the Washington, D.C. real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle. In addition to his past work at the GSA, Peck's public service career includes serving as chief of staff to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.) and working for the Office of Management and Budget, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Federal Communications Commission.

Peck told Engineering News-Record in August that his top priority will be "to carry out the Recovery Act projects that GSA has, as fast as possible – in order to create jobs – and also in as effective a way as possible."
